http://www.youtube.com/v/d2PCBGMWQes&rel=1World at War Map Pack 2 has been released on Xbox live and the Playstation network along with a patch, there is also a double XP weekend coming up that runs until June 16th, 10 AM pacific time.
Patch notes:- Significantly streamlined MP matchmaking.
- Increased the number of safety checks in the MP spawn system to prevent players from spawning within the line of sight of an enemy.
- Implemented a new stats backup system – this system creates a regular backup snapshot of player stats; if the game detects data corruption, instead of attempting to reset the player to level 1, it will notify the player that their stats have been restored to the most recent backup.
- Addressed a rare occurrence referred to as the “dummy glitch” in MP, where players would appear to be prone in 3rd person but would have a standing view in 1st person.
- Patched several possible MP map exploits.
- Improved dog spawning in MP.
- Improved AI path-finding in Nazi Zombies to prevent potential exploits.
Why is there no Call of Duty in the Modern Warfare 2 title? “This is a direct sequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare,” said community manager Robert Bowling. “That is what we are trying to get across to our audience. It’s not just another one in the Call of Duty franchise.
“This has never happened in Call of Duty before. They’re typically their own campaigns and totally unrelated to the previous one. This one, is indeed a direct sequel and we just want to make that clear.”
IGN pitches Call of Duty movie idea The obvious choices for the director's chair would be helmers with a history of exciting war movies. The likes of Oliver Stone (Platoon), Steven Spielberg (Saving Private Ryan) and Ridley Scott - who is perhaps the most qualified with Black Hawk Down on his CV - would all certainly fit the bill.
But we reckon Paul Greengrass is the perfect choice for the material. He's already explored the 'War on Terror' theme with the superb United 93 and the upcoming Green Zone, but he's never made a straight war movie. His in-yer-face, shaky cam shooting style would marvellously recreate MW's manic mêlées, but it's the pacing that would be his biggest directorial assets. Greengrass' Bourne Ultimatum was a masterclass in propelling an action-packed narrative forward breathlessly towards a thrilling conclusion, whilst still making you care about the characters. He could definitely bring those qualities to our MW movie.

“We have goals for all of our titles. ... We fully expect Modern Warfare 2 to be one of, if not THE largest, title in the industry this year. When you look at when Modern Warfare 1 was launched in 2007, it had a substantial jump in consumers engaged in the Call of Duty franchise. World at War, which was launched in Holiday 2008, saw that more than a fifth of its purchasers were first time users of the Call of Duty franchise. So all those new purchasers are ready for the Modern Warfare 2 experience because they haven't historically been in the franchise.”
“We also look at Modern Warfare 2 and where it's strongest on the next-gen platforms of PS3 and Xbox 360... the installed base from the first Modern Warfare to the second one will be nearly double. So you add all those elements up – the greater installed base of consoles, the greater consumer base that was generated by World at War – all those things suggest that Modern Warfare 2 is set up to be more successful than any other Call of Duty we've launched so far.”
Modern Warfare 2 fun over realism?"We go for authenticity not realism," Zampella told Official PlayStation Magazine. "We're not making a sim, we're making entertainment. We want it to look real like an action movie."
Zamplella explains why the futuristic weapons, like a tripod gun that uses lasers to detect and shoot enemies, don't ruin the game's authenticity. "You see a guy in an action movie, what he does is a little over the top. It makes for a great movie."
